California Construction Employment Dashboard

Movement Economics was contracted by the California Center for Construction Economics to create a dashboard in Tableau visualizing trends in employment, earnings, output, and productivity in the California construction industry. The dashboard includes 19 interactive data visualizations that draw on multiple data sources, including the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, Current Employment Survey, Bureau of Economic Analysis, Business Employment Dynamics, Occupational Wage and Employment Statistics, Quarterly Workforce Indicators, and American Community Survey. To allow the dashboard to be updated as new data is released, our team set up a server to automatically check for data updates and to download and analyze new data as it is made available through APIs from the Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and California Employment Development Department.
